Materials
Polyurethane resin, “faux cement” and resin-laminated fiberglass.
Applications (very broad & succinct by design)
Virtually all horizontal (counter & table tops) or vertical (wall coverings, door inlays, partitions/dividers) surface coverings suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, made to match any finish or color desired and a choice of either a gloss, satin or matte protective coating.
Benefits
Note: Specific benefits are a direct function of the material and application/intended use.
I. Practicality & Function:
- Strength/durability – will not stain, scuff, chip or crack & resilient against scratching.
- Lightweight – insofar as fiberglass or “faux cement”, the weight is a direct function of the substrate they are adhered to which can be as light and thin as ¼” HardieBacker, hence the weight of these two materials will vary, but will most definitely be a lot less than the “alternative” materials which can be used such as real concrete, granite or marble. With resin, the weight is 8 lbs. per square foot at 1” thickness (which, again, if comparing to a comparable material such as glass, is substantially less).
- Non-porous – our materials, when coated, are completely non-porous, hence liquids are not able to permeate a particular surface and stain or destroy it with mold over time due to recurring & frequent spillage.
- Molded objects/surfaces – unlike most of the alternate materials available as a substitute for any of our three materials listed above, most of fabrications are achieved through a molding process, thereby, allowing every item/surface covering to be custom-sized for its intended application and is not limited by available tile sizes (or colors/finishes for that matter) as is the case with most alternate materials. This also enables a quick and easy install as opposed to products available only in specific-sized tiles (for which the install can run an additional $7-$17 per square foot, depending on the material being used and surface it is adhered to) and, in the case of others (such as granite, marble or other natural stone), a fitted surface covering is obviously much easier to affix to its substrate than cutting stone, mitering it, etc.
- Customization/branding – as we can seamlessly embed objects such as lettering or logos and also because we work with reflective paints and both convex & concave three-dimensional patterns, the possibilities for customization or branding are virtually limitless.
- Versatility – ability to custom-fabricate specific sizes from bespoke molds, select any color or finish desired, at any level of opacity and a choice of exterior coating (which is a function of both the intended use and desired appearance of the item in question).
II. Appearance & Uniqueness:
- Resin can be fabricated in a myriad of techniques with unique and amazing results (NOTE: most of this is covered in our two-page introduction/explanation document).
- Coloration options include back-painting, dye/paint infusion & manipulation, embedding of various artifacts, layering; all with any color desired and at any level of opacity.
- Reflection/light play – we have virtually endless options incorporating 3D visual effects with our concave & convex patterns, especially when applying metallic & reflective paint to them, as well as light play with the aforementioned or level of translucency possible when dyes are infused within the resin.
- Level of detail – unlike a lot of other materials, both our resin and resin-laminated fiberglass are able to pick up and vividly embody & show fine details.
- Simulation/emulation – we can recreate almost any look, texture, color or emulate almost any material or object desired (keeping in mind this can be achieved with all of the benefits listed above).
Three other benefits and differentiators which are paramount to ALWAYS mention:
- We can create custom samples with a turnaround of 2-3 days under normal circumstances (and within our vicinity) as opposed to companies from out of state or other countries for which that may be, at best, a remote possibility, if available at all.
- All of our materials can be LEED-certified when so needed/desired (some materials may cost more if LEED-certified).
- Being local not only means we can turnaround samples quickly, but people who purchase from us support our local economy and the “Made in the U.S.A.” credo which we feel very strongly about.
